FAMILY ENHANCEMENT & PROTECTION

Child and Family Services

The Northwest Alberta Child and Family Services mission Statement says "They work together to enhance the ability of families and communities to develop nurturing and safe environments for children, youth and individuals."

Through the Alberta Response policy implemented in 2001, the differential response shift is from a focus on Child Protection Services, to a combination of prevention, early intervention and protection services. These three differential response components are reflected in the following practices:

Community Resources - where family is struggling and in need of external support(s), but the situation does not put the child at risk of abuse or neglect. CFSA will assist in connecting those applicants with appropriate community resources.
Family Enhancement - for families who have children at risk of abuse, and who are voluntarily working with CFSA to make changes, a Family Enhancement Worker will provide supports to the family
Child Protection - for families who have children at risk of abuse, and who are not willing or able to provide protection. Protection services are defined specifically to include services to a family where the child is the subject of a supervision order, or when the child has been placed in care outside of the home. Protection involvement is required as long as there is a child protection concern.

Fairview Health Complex

The Fairview Health Complex has an on call Doctor 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
We run an out patients department Monday through Friday at 9:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m. and walk in clinic Saturday and Sunday at 11:00 am, 4:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m.
